Another batch of chickens were taken to market last weekend.

It's very important to keep them cool on the way. One lady ahead of us had brought her chickens in a box in the back of her car. They had gotten too hot and there were 4 DOAs.
How do you take 28 chickens somewhere?
We finally opted to put them in the back of the truck with this netting over them.

It worked out alright. They all made it home safe and sound.

Hey Debra, I am not sure if the Youngbergs mentioned this or not but one possibility for your chicken who couldn't move is that the other chickens trampled him/her in some way and broke its leg. That happened to one of our meat birds and we kept it alive by bringing it food and water too.

Well, we know what happened to her. She was run over (badly) by the chicken tractor one day when my husband was moving it by himself.
We did move her to the brooder and tried caring for her for awhile, but she didn't grow, she looked bad. I talked a little about it here:
