Better with age

I have to share these pictures of Jack. He has turned out to be a nice addition to our family. I freely admit that it wasn't too long ago that I hated him.

Yep.

I actually hated him.

A lot.

Lest you think too harshly of me, I will draw you back in time to a post about Jack. And there were oh so many more days like that. But, we pushed through. We stuck it out, through the first year, which I think is the worst with dogs (the puppy phase) and now we have happily arrived to a new and improved Jack.

A more mature Jack.

He will actually lay around and sleep.

Or let you pet him while he lays still. Before he wouldn't stop wiggling and waggling.

Here we are in my daughter's room. Just the three of us. He is so tall, he stands and looks out the window.

She and Jack can often be seen standing side by side at the window or french doors, looking intently outside. They are about the same height, even though he is a year younger than she.

I take that back, she is standing on a stool.

He is taller.

He endures her hugs.

His ears are so velvety soft. He stands beside the chair where I am rocking and sometimes lays his head in my lap to be petted.

Then he'll put a paw on my arm, in a pitiful plea for attention. Look at that paw, it's huge!

Here she's eating a snack. She has Puffin cereal in her cup. That got Jack up off the floor.

I don't think she gave him a single one.

This is something else he does. He lays down and puts his paws around your feet. Well, he sat down first, then I put my foot on his paw, then he finished with a paw on top.

Next the inevitable licking. Yuck!
All this happened while I was finishing up these socks for T3.

Adorable! T1 saw this picture and said I should just make her socks like that, so we can see her cute toes.

August

Our cows are great motivators to weed the garden. Everytime we are out in the garden they come over to the fence and bellow. We pull some nice green weeds or tufts of grass and take them over.

We went camping a couple weekends ago. It was nice...to look back on. During was a different story. It wasn't that relaxing, as T3 was constantly on the go (as you can see). She was always trying to wander, or as the picture hints, scamper off.

This was just such a moment. She was running off, T2 was told to 'get her'. Her face is filled with such glee, but she is about to fall on the ground and tears followed.

Despite the tears, we all had a great time.
